Postcards created by Peta ~ "imAGinAtion"

Hi Everyone......
Upon arrival home tonight I found 2 postcards in my letterbox, one from Tracey from Theodore and the one that I posted back to myself from my first set of seven for the first round! Well done Australia Post!

Tracey has chosen "Home" for her theme for this round....it's a theme I love...I've already begun thinking and planning what I can do....the unadorned card is lovely in itself with one side painted a bronze with a repetition pattern all over it, the 'front' is addressed in groovy handwriting with the theme running along the top of it..

I have spoken to a few collaborators clarifying the whole process...hopefully everyone is now on the right track...if you're unsure or unclear please ask me questions!

Happy creating

First time blogger

This blogging business is all new to me but I seem to be making progress.
Just returned from a week away and I have one of those little blue cards from the Post office telling me I have a parcel. No guessing what that should be.

You can imagine my disapointment when I realised it was a Public Holiday and I would have to wait another 3 days before collecting my postcard information pack. I will be very busy on Monday creating my little works. I have not settled on a theme but I still have a couple of days for inspiration to hit me.
Being a pastel artist (of sorts) I will be feeling a little aprehensive as I try out some new mediums on the postcards.
Looking forward to the first round.
Pam
Hi Everyone,

I'm really looking forward to seeing what will be created by us all through this collaboration. My first lot of postcards are ready to go...feeling a bit nervous if they'll be Ok, but just have to get over that! My theme is 'Home': whatever or wherever you feel safe, secure, nurtured, sheltered and protected...doesn't have to be a building, could be a person, an activity, a town...a state of mind?!

Can't wait to start receiving cards...I'm wondering what my very conventional post office man (who is quite lovely) is going to make of all the fun mail coming into my mailbox!

Look forward to hearing from you all and getting to know everyone...

Let's Get Started!!!!!!

Hi Everyone,

My Name is Kym Simms & I am very excited to be involved with The Postcard Collaboration.

We have a group of ladies in Biloela called BAVA- Biloela Area Visual Arts. We have a Blog for our group, so I was keen to ask Peta, if I could help organise one for all the Postcard Collaborators. The Blog can then be shared with family, friends & interested artists throughout the world.

Everyone is invited to post their stories, photo's & any news they would like to share with the Artists involved in this venture. I would like to put a profile of everyone on the RHS of the blog. Name, portrait photo, DOB, like & dislikes - something to share about yourself. You can email this through to me if you would like to.

Little steps at first understanding the posting and photo downloads. If you have any problems or would like to post some news but are a bit nervous..send through your news of the day & I will be very happy to post it for you & any photo's you have attached. To log on & make comments you have to register for a Google account which is similar to any other web subscription.

So, Let's get started!!!! I received my Postcard Info today & I felt like a child, so excited about receiving my colourful envelope with the Postcard goodies inside.
Now.....Peta knows how many times I read through the details to understand the planning of this great event......Yes, the penny did drop & I am now ready to send off my postcards on May 1st.

I am looking forward to seeing these postcards come to life over the next twelve months & to meet the all collaborators along the way.
Having Fun with ART'08
Kym :)

Hi, Amanda, Donna, JacQ, Jane, Jenelle, Judy, Kristin, Kym, Lindesay, Melanie, Nanette, Natalie, Olley, Pam, Rochelle, Shelly, Susan, Tamara, Terri and Tracey,

Phew! a total of 21 artists for The Postcard Collaboration!

Today I posted off an envelope containing final info for the collaboration, so keep a look out for it! I hope you will all receive it before Friday (Anzac Day). (Shelly I'm not sure how long yours will take, so I have attached a copy of the addresses of those artists in your group with this email!) Also, I have posted off completed books from our "altered Book collaboration' to: Shelly, Donna and Natalie, so keep an eye out for these absolute treasures as well!)

Your envelope includes the following items:
1 x Postage Reckoner

Some examples of Lenore Tawneys work on postcards

The names and address of the artists in your group

A postcard which is the correct size for this collaboration
A few brief points about the collaboration including the start and finishing dates for each of the six rounds

The starting date for the first round is the 1st of May, so I guess we will all be getting busy preparing our first group of 7 postcards, if we aim to post them off to arrive by the 1st of May that will be ideal!

Any further questions or clarification please email me or contact the co ordinator of the group you are in!

Happy creating!

Welcome to "The Postcard Collaboration"

Hello to Rochelle, Donna, Kristin, Susan, Tracey, Olley, Amanda, Shelly, Nanette, Jane, Joan, Melanie, Pam, Kym, Natalie, JacQ, Janelle and Terri, (Donna can you pass a printed copy of this email onto Terri...thanks!)

You have all expressed a desire to participate in
The Postcard Collaboration
...Welcome Aboard!

I have some info ready to send out to you,(postage reckoner, some examples of Lenore Tawneys postcard works, etc), so now all I require from you are your postage addresses!

As there are a total of 19 collaborators I will be placing artists into 3 groups, two groups of six and one of seven. I am planning on putting mixtures of artists together who are from different parts of Australia - we have collaborators from Melbourne, Vincentia -NSW, Brisbane, Biloela, Theodore, Yeppoon, Rockhampton, Moura, and Berkshire UK.....Donna, Olley and myself will co coordinator a group each.

I would like to post out your packages by Monday 21st of April so if you would each email me with your postage addresses and also phone numbers ASAP that would be terrific!

While you are waiting for your package to arrive you can start to plan your theme for the first round and your 'postcard surface' material. I'm still aiming for the first round to begin by Monday 28th of April (that is for artists to be receiving their postcards from the other members of their group by 28th of April - I will include a timetable of dates for the beginning of each round in your package as well as a list of the collaborators and their addresses of your group)

Perhaps we can all keep in contact via email or 'facebook' with photos of the postcards as they are being created, this way we can share our styles, skills and gain new ideas and learning from each other....what do you think??

Don't forget that the idea is to actually post the postcards to each other as a postcard (not in an envelope), this way the postmark and stamp becomes part of the artwork!

I think that's all for now...I know you are all excited about the project and enthusiastic to begin...

Looking forward to receiving your addresses...

Creatively yours,

Peta
