I've Been Busy with Art this weekend!!!

After a wonderful time in Melbourne last weekend, eating out, shopping and drinking coffee...I really enjoyed being in the studio this weekend..I have started all of my postcards...yay!! have finished four, it was a bit too late to photograph them, (I like to photograph in the daylight where possible), so will do that as soon as I can and post them up here ...so watch this space!

I did however finish off a 'box card' for a lovely friend of mine who is moving to Brisbane.....she loves green, natural things, the beach and bike riding, here are a few pics!

I am really enjoying the posts collaborators are putting up...and the pics...you are all so clever, I can hardly wait to be able to see these beautiful artworks in the flesh....we'll have to put our thinking caps on for exhibition venues!

  1. hi peta, good to see you back.
t'was my last day at work today, am hoping to finish my cards in the next few days. havent got any back yet. still havent got jacQ. what im writing about is... i met a woman julie barrett, of barrett galleries in alstonville the gallery is dedicated to paper works at FEHVA artists book forum the other w/end. anyway, i had a brief chat and she said she is hosting an artists book exhibition in august 08 and i told her about the altered book collab... do you think we can get a few books together to show, or, what do you think?
can you tell us more about your art boxes? they look fascinating.
    love donna

  2. Hi donna, i'm enjoying this blog, looks like you are too! I didn't know you had another job...but great you are back doing some art...re julie barrett...i know her from tafe in rocky...i love her work, very creative, she is a clever artist...i would be happy for my book to be displayed in the artists book exhibition in august...i could also ask some others (my sisters, amanda, natalie, kristin and mel..the later two books should be completed by then!) to see if they would like to have their books displayed also...maybe i could also put my two box works (that were in the "threesome" exhibition in as well....what do you think? About the art boxes...the concept is similar to the box works in the "threesome" show... the difference being that i make them for individuals with their personalities, life symbols, colours and individual style woven throughout the concertina pull out... i combine gelatin prints, found objects (natural and manufactured),ephemera and text as well as personal items belonging to the recipient...my art shrines use all the above and can also include a small book...all of which is contained in a shrine shaped structure...i'll put up a photo of a recently completed shrine that i was commissioned to make for another friends mother.
hope you are being happy and creative, love peta
