This is the front side of Tracey's completed postcard, her theme for round two was "Longing Longing Longing". I wasn't sure what I was 'longing' for, but as I was sorting through the many scraps of papers and photos that I have saved, (my motto is "Never Ever Throw Anything Away"), I came across this photocopy of four women, it could be a mother and her three daughters, (I also have three daughters!). Then I found the meaning of 'Homebody" from an old dictionary in another pile, it all seemed to be fitting together....I am longing to spend more time at home, in the garden, in the studio,(and yes even catching up with the ironing and doing some home baking!) The title of the piece "A Womans Work is Never Done" completed it nicely!

For those continuing with the postcards, I believe that Olley has already communicated with you about how you will be continuing with this great project.
For everyone, please if you can, complete the postcards you have in your possession, if this is not possible then simply return to the originating artist as is.
For those who have chosen to change to the Altered Book Collaboration I will send out a group email within the next week to outline the details.
Kym, I would like to thankyou for your wonderful efforts of setting up the blog and continuing to maintain it, it has been a valuable opportunity to share thoughts and art with others and to be able to connect with other collaborators across the country and the oceans - THANKS!!!
To Donna and Olley, a big thankyou to you both for so capably and gently encouraging your respective group members participation - THANKS!!!
Once again......THANKS!!! to all of YOU for your enthusiasm, participation and collaboration!!!
Cheers,
Peta
Good to see you are well to enjoy being creative with your postcards, Peta.
ReplyDelete"Longing" can be very personal in a way- we suppress certain things we long for ~ in our busy lifestyles.
You have done a lovely collage for this theme. I'm interested to see what Tracey is "longing" for......
Looking forward to seeing the postcards come through for Round 2. Having Fun wiht ART, Kym:)
Thanks for your thoughtful comment Kym, I am feeling a lot better today! I'm looking forward to seeing some more of your finished postcards soon...Also I'm glad that you found the bag with last rounds postcards in them after misplacing them from the Gelatine and Tea Bag workshop, I'm still finding things tucked into unusual places, it always seems to happen after packing up from a workshop! Keep on creating! Peta
ReplyDeleteKym...Wow, that is so true about supressing things we long for...I think we often don't have any idea, we get so estranged from ourselves at times. I think my longing is for travel and adventure...or maybe perfect , blissful, uninterrupted peace and calm...hmmmm can't see that happening!!
ReplyDeleteAnd Peta, I love your interpretation of Longing! Can't wait to see those girls in the flesh! (have to admit that apart from a fairly unattractive horse torn off a card your Nightmares are still far from resolved at my end!!)
Gosh Tracey...hope my 'nightmare' theme is not causing you too many sleepless nights....can I also add travel onto my 'longing' list??
ReplyDeletePeta
Peta...No, your poor postacrd (along with all the others) is tucked away while I struggle with the vagaries of of my cashbook programme not wanting to talk to my banking programme - way more frustrating than a pair of 6 year olds really!!! I'm looking forward to getting back to them later in the week - although I have to admit to being quite without any inspiration at the minute for any of them!
ReplyDeleteAnd yes! Add the travel to the list! I feel so travel deprived that an adventure to the Red Steer Hotel in Thangool would seem quite exotic just now!!!
Hey- Thangool-Red Steer Hotel!!!
ReplyDeleteWhatever turns you on girl.....
The beer & wine will be cold.
Us Bilo girls will be in that.
See ya soon :)
That cracked me up.
